Parque Metropolitano Tres Presas el Rejón. That’s the name of the place i spent many Sundays and Saturdays mornings trough 2018 and 2019. Located in my hometown, i went there to capture the sounds of the birds and the environment.
Field recordings are a time capsule. Some are memento of extinct species that will never be heard again. Just like taxidermy, skeletons, 19th-century illustrations and photographs; audio recordings are unique evidence of the human driven extinction of this age.
The bird sounds i captured are not from species in danger of becoming extinct at the present. But, if someone goes to Rejón in the near future, will they find the same richness i found in the sonic landscape?
I captured a variety of bird species including the Cardinalis sinuatus, Petrochelidon pyrrhonota, Larus delawarensis, Quiscalus mexicanus and Himantopus mexicanus. https://mexico.inaturalist.org/places/parque-el-rejon-ch-mx
